On October 10, 2012, the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance hosted its 8th Annual What You Need to Know about Transportation Seminar at Capital One in McLean. The event attracted over 200 attendees, including many state and local officials.
Education has always been a fundamental part of the Alliance's mission. The Alliance was founded 25 years ago on the premise that a well-informed public is key to better transportation.
The event featured some of the region's and state's foremost transportation leaders and professionals, including Virginia Commissioner of Highways, Gregory Whirley, Metro General Manager & CEO, Richard Sarles; and Virginia Railway Express CEO, Doug Allen and VDOT Northern Virginia District Administrator, Garret Moore.
The presentations opened with John McClain of the George Mason University Center for Regional Analysis discussing a newly released study on “Connections Between Transportation Investment and Economic Growth.” To read the entire study, click here.
