Bi-County Parkway Advances
|
|
The Commonwealth Transportation Board has included $5 million for preliminary engineering and design for the Bi-County Parkway in the FY 2013-FY 2018 Six-Year Improvement Program (SYIP).
The Bi-County Parkway is a limited access extension of Route 234/Prince William Parkway from I-66 in Prince William County to Northstar/Blvd. and U.S. 50 in Loudoun County and is part of the new Northern Virginia North-South Corridor of Statewide Significance.
The Bi-County Parkway is a longstanding Alliance priority.
In addition to connecting employment centers and residential communities in Northern Virginia's second and third largest jurisdictions the Parkway provides a critical (and currently missing) link for travelers and freight to and from Washington Dulles International Airport, one of Virginia's most important economic engines.
Congratulations to Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, Transportation Secretary Sean Connaughton, and Commonwealth Transportation Board members Gary Garczynski and Doug Koelemay for supporting this initiative.
