The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority wants to hear from you!
The Authority held an open house April 18, 2012 to get public feedback on its draft TransAction 2040 plan.
However, the public comment period remains open until May 2nd.
The TransAction 2040 seeks to update the 2030 version, adopted in 2006, by evaluating more than 200 highway, bus, rail, bike and pedestrian projects submitted largely by the Authority's localities.

Projects are evaluated on the basis of 19 criteria weighted on a scale of 100.
For a region plagued by the nation's worst traffic congestion and second longest commuting travel times, the scoring awards relatively few points to attributes that matter most. For example, the maximum project points awarded for congestion reduction is only 6.67. Similarly, maximum reductions in travel times receive only 6.67 points, while the same 6.67 points are awarded to any project simply for being on a local plan.
Presently, projects are ranked within mode (highway, transit and bike/pedestrian) but not in terms of overall regional benefit.
