The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority is comprised of nine Northern Virginia cities and counties.

On May 22nd the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance is hosting a forum featuring leaders from the five largest jurisdictions, which are home to 96% of the region's population, to discuss their thinking as to how over $1.5 billion in new regional dollars should be spent and what criteria should be used to ensure it is spent well?

	Fact: The $1.45 billion the VDOT audit found is only 50% of the $3 billion cut in the last 3 years from VDOT’s budget due to funding shortfall. Fact: The Washington DC area has the nation’s third largest heavy rail system and the fifth largest regional bus fleet. Fact: Nationally, the DC area ranks 8th in population, 6th in public transit system size and 16th in freeway lane miles.
